CASE STUDY

A. Virga Design was hired by an esthetician who was leasing out space inside an upscale Los Gatos, California, day spa. Susan wanted an identity that reflected her location and the experience her skin care patrons received: professional, tranquil and rejuvenating.

Typography was a mixture of classical and contemporary to reflect the day spa’s clientele of wealthy mature women and young executives.

The top of the line products Susan used were organic in composition, which delivered fresh, chemical-free results. Because Susan was just starting her business, she needed us to work within a limited budget. Our solution focused on conveying Skin Care by Susan’s ethos via a cost-effective, two-color identity system. Pairing a serene aquamarine with a sophisticated dark brown was the perfect color combination. Typography was a mixture of classical and contemporary to reflect the day spa’s clientele of wealthy mature women and young executives. As an extra feminine touch, a filigree papyrus-textured graphic was used as a background element, adding depth, texture and elegance without significantly increasing cost. The final deliverables—logo, business card, postcard invitation and services menu—carried a cohesive visual identity, which provided Skin Care by Susan an established, professional look for the start-up business.
